I am retired, however, because of pre-scheduled commitments, it would be necessary to pursue lessons on Mondays and/or Tuesdays.

Why the Blue Ridge Academy of Music is your best choice for music instruction.

For centuries, music has been an influential part of cultural society. It is an element which brings people together, and stimulates cognitive awareness. The Blue Ridge Academy of Music offers unparalleled training and a wealth of new opportunities to you and your student. We foster the elements essential to the development of recreational and professional music abilities such as dedication, confidence and progress toward a goal.

Quality Instruction

The owner of BRAM has been a music educator for over 25 years. With a Bachelor of Music degree from The Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford and a Master of Education degree from the University of Virginia, this ‘one-two’ punch ensures that you are receiving the best instruction available. Additionally, he is a dad himself – which may be the best qualification of all.

How We Do It

Unlike the typical music lesson experience, our teachers make short and long-term goals for students and we share them with you. We are not only musicians, we are also educators. Our instruction is performance oriented. We have our students perform recitals, twice or more per year. There is no mystery about what you will be learning, how soon, and why. After each lesson you are provided specific, understandable feedback about what was covered and what is targeted for the next session. Many other music instruction offerings leave out important components and leave gaps in a student’s understanding.

What We Teach:

At BRAM, each lesson includes emphasis on Proper (efficient) Technique, Ear-Training, Music Literacy, Elements of Expression, Repertoire Building, and Improvisation. Depending upon your student’s course of study, we may include instruction about Music Electronics and Music Recording Techniques. Every lesson offers the student a chance to hear his or her own playing. Recordings are made in a session and played back for the student to receive immediate real feedback about how well he or she is performing at that moment. These recordings are available to take home each week so that student progress is measurable for everyone.

What Do We Offer?

BRAM is a convenient solution for busy families in the Botetourt or Bedford areas who would like to expose their children to the world of music. In addition to teaching piano, voice and guitar to children, we also instruct adults and seniors. Features of our program include:

Flexible scheduling and vacation allowances

Individualized curriculum for students ages 4 to adult

Instruction for beginner to professional level students

One or more lessons per week

Lesson lengths from 30 to 60 minutes in duration

Two or more recitals per year

A Lending Library

Instrument selection assistance
